Congratulations!
Our winner for the English Speech Competition is:
Ms. Mavis Su from Chang Hua, Taiwan!
Excellent work Mavis, nicely done!
How would studying overseas change my life?
I have strong interests in understanding people; that's why I take
teaching as my lifelong career. Teaching in high school is rather
interesting, especially teaching students English. Nothing is greater than
such wonderful interactions among people through such a rich language.
However, due to the restriction of completing my education only in Taiwan,
the more I output to my students, the more I find that something is missing.
My perception of this language is mainly out of imagination, which does form
certain ambiguity. The voice in my mind keeps urging me to go beyond walls
of this limitation, extending the breadth of life. That is, I need to go
abroad and study overseas to really appreciate the in-depth part of the
language and its culture. Besides, the process of learning a foreign
language is not for destination, but for joy-the joy of meeting different
peoples, discovering a greater world, and most of all, seeing more
possibilities to my students and myself.
